With the financial support of the European Commission, the special combines of the SC “Radon” received part of the equipment for emergency brigades
In July 2017, within the framework of the “Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation Programme (INSC)” – “Emergency response equipment at the special combines of the State Corporation “Radon” and for remediation of radioactive waste storage sites Part II, funded by the European Commission, a part of the equipment for emergency brigades was delivered to the special combines of the State Corporation “UkrSA “Radon”.
It should be added that a set of equipment for the removal of radioactive waste from points of special treatment of vehicles and decontamination waste storage sites located outside the Exclusion Zone was received by the Kyiv SISC.
The corresponding training was carried out with the experts of the Kyiv SISC on the operation of equipment and its testing in laboratory and field conditions.
According to Vasyl Nevmerzhitsky, Head of the Technical Policy Department of SC “Radon”, the implementation of equipment will increase the safety of handling solid radioactive wastes formed as a result of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and are outside the Exclusion Zone, the creation of an integrated automated radiation monitoring system of environment at the State Specialized Enterprises of SC “Radon” and improvement of the emergency response system for the elimination of radiation accidents in Ukraine.
